Our ideal candidate is a highly skilled IT professional with a strong background in quality assurance testing for mission-critical applications and has an understanding of agile processes. Our ideal candidate possesses broad expertise in various software development tools and platforms, as well as knowledge of system security testing and compliance standards..

This project will be replacing the WorkSource\'s current legacy system Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) using an agile framework as the approach to the project.

The Journey Quality Assurance position performs as a member of the WorkSource System Support team (WSS) within ITSD. This position manages the quality assurance testing of the Workforce portfolio mission critical application programs to assist with determining solutions to business problems, technical or procedural, within ITSD. This position reports to the WorkSource IT System Manger who reports to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). The WSS unit is integral to the successful administration of job seeker, employer services, and re-employment within ESD by supporting critical applications, systems, and services. This position will work closely with Application Services unit, Enterprise Services, Infrastructure and Operations, and other IT or business teams to support and maintain the WorkSource line of business which is integral to the successful administration of Claimant and employers\' services within ESD by supporting the development, implementation and maintenance of information systems and high-profile initiatives that impact significant and fundamental public services.

Duties

As a QA/Automation Tester, you\'ll manage quality assurance testing for vital applications within the Information and Technology Services Division (ITSD). Leveraging your strong background in software development tools and system security testing, you\'ll develop effective test strategies, and ensure the highest quality of mission-critical applications. In this collaborative and supportive role, you will contribute to the organization\'s success by delivering excellence in software delivery.

Some of your duties may include:

  • Analyze functional, non-functional, and technical requirements to determine and define testing scope.
  • Preform manual and automated end to end testing of the WIT system and other software applications under the workforce portfolio.
  • Apply modern programming patterns and paradigms to automated testing frameworks to create clean architecture, increase flexibility and reusability, and maintain stability of long-term test automation support.
  • Develop and maintain test case traceability documentation to ensure scope coverage and alignment to business rules, requirements, user stories, use cases and technical specifications.
  • Assist in verifying the built solution reflects the business requirements communicated to the internal and vendor technical staff. Inform and respond to questions from development teams.
  • Analyze and determine impact of system malfunction/failure and communicate the results to the system business owner and product owner.
  • Review test results for quality assurance to confirm acceptance criteria is met for user acceptance testing.
Qualifications

Bachelor\'s degree in computer science, information systems or closely related technical/business discipline and two (2) years of demonstrated IT experience in business analysis, testing or system development.

OR
A combination of six (6) years of education and/or relevant IT experience.

AND
  • Four (4) years of experience troubleshooting malfunctions and failures of highly complex applications and systems and participating in defining mitigation and resolution strategies.
  • Two (2) years of experience with knowledge and technical proficiency in software quality assurance strategies, methodologies, and processes.
  • Two (2) years of experience with knowledge and technical proficiency in development architecture and use of automated test tools such as Selenium/Atata as well as writing automated test scripts using a variety of scripting languages such as C#, JavaScript, Windows Batch, and PowerShell.
  • Four (4) years of experience with knowledge and technical proficiency of defect tracking tools and techniques.
  • Two (2) years of experience with knowledge and progressive experience with database technologies.
  • Two (2) years of experience with knowledge of posting environment variables, windows operating systems (OS) and commands.
  • Two (2) years of experience working in an agile environment and leading scrum teams.
Desired Experience or Competencies:
  • Software and Application testing certificate of training completion:
  • Quality Assurance Institute (QAI)
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ)
  • International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB)
  • International Institute for Software Testing (IIST)
  • Two (2) years of experience working in a local/state/federal government environment where IT security best practices, policies, and procedures are required and audited, as well as having responsibility for developing, implementing, and enforcing these types of policies and procedures.
  • Experience testing with low code platforms such as Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics.
