Ugly Dumpling is looking for Wok Cooks to join our team at our upcoming location in Austin, TX!!

Job Overview:

We are looking for talented and dedicated Wok Cooks to join our kitchen team at our upcoming Austin, TX location! The Wok Cooks will be responsible for preparing food items to the restaurant's standards, working with the kitchen team to ensure high-quality meals are served promptly. This role requires a passion for food, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:



Food Preparation:

Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to the restaurant's recipes and standards. This includes grilling, sauteing, baking, and other methods as required.

Station Setup:

Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies, ensuring that ingredients are fresh and organized for efficient workflow.

Menu Knowledge:

Understand the restaurant's menu, including daily specials, dietary restrictions, and ingredient details. Be able to prepare dishes exactly as specified by the chef.

Quality Control:

Ensure that food is prepared to the highest quality standards, paying attention to portion sizes, presentation, and cooking times.

Cleanliness and Safety:

Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the shift. Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and sanitation procedures.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with other kitchen staff, including prep cooks, dishwashers, and chefs, to ensure smooth kitchen operations and timely service to guests.

Inventory and Stocking:

Monitor and report on food inventory levels, assist in the storage of deliveries, and ensure that all kitchen supplies are properly stored.

Problem Solving:

Address any issues in a timely and professional manner, including kitchen equipment malfunctions or ingredient shortages.

Maintain Standards:

Adhere to portion control and waste management procedures to minimize food costs and maintain consistency.

Requirements:



Experience:

Prior experience as a Line Cook or in a kitchen environment is preferred, though not required for entry-level candidates with strong culinary potential.

Skills:

Strong wok cooking skills and knowledge of kitchen equipment and techniques (grilling, stir-frying, steaming, etc.). Ability to work efficiently under pressure.

Knowledge:

Familiarity with food safety and sanitation guidelines (e.g., ServSafe certification is a plus).

Physical Demands:

Ability to stand for extended periods, handle hot cooking equipment, and lift up to 25 lbs.

Availability:

Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
