Job Summary

Duties

Greet customers warmly and provide expert guidance on wine selections, including recommendations based on taste preferences and occasions Assist with inventory management by stocking shelves, organizing displays, and conducting regular stock checks using POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS Process sales transactions accurately through cash handling and POS systems, ensuring smooth checkout experiences Support menu planning and product pairing suggestions to enhance customer satisfaction Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop area, including cleaning bottles, shelves, and workstations in compliance with food safety standards Assist with special events such as tastings or wine tastings, helping with setup, serving, and breakdown Collaborate with team members to ensure excellent customer service during busy periods and support catering or banquet events as needed Follow food safety protocols when handling wine bottles and related products to ensure quality control Upsell products by highlighting premium wines or complementary items to boost sales and enhance the customer experience

Skills

Proven experience in food service or retail environments, especially within the food industry or fine dining settings Familiarity with POS systems like Aloha POS or Micros POS for processing transactions efficiently Strong customer service skills with a friendly, energetic approach that encourages repeat visits Knowledge of wine varieties, menu planning, and culinary experience is a plus for providing expert advice Ability to upsell effectively while maintaining genuine enthusiasm for products Experience with serving beverages at events such as banquets or catering functions Excellent cash handling skills combined with attention to detail in food handling and safety procedures Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism Basic knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling techniques Flexibility to assist with meal preparation or supporting catering activities when needed
