The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is responsible for managing and protecting the state\xe2\x80\x99s renewable natural resources, including all wildlife and aquatic life.
This position is responsible for conducting facility management and maintenance/development of projects at the 71,905-acre White Lake Wetlands Conservation Area in Vermilion Parish, with other work duties assigned as necessary. Candidate must have experience in maintenance and repair work associated with buildings, lawn maintenance equipment, small engines, and various types of boats and motors. This position will assist Wildlife Biologists with data collection on various projects in a marsh environment. The employee is expected to communicate regularly with coworkers to ensure that prioritized work tasks and equipment repairs are completed appropriately. The employee is expected to inspect marsh conditions, make recommendations, and implement all marsh management plans as outlined by the Area Manager. In addition, waterfowl hunting experience is expected, as this position will assist with guided public lottery waterfowl hunts on the property. The candidate is also required (within two years of hire) to obtain and maintain a USCG Merchant Mariner Master Captain\xe2\x80\x99s license for daytime and nighttime vessel operation.
The Wildlife and Fisheries Technician position participates in a Career Progression Group (CPG) and is advertised to be filled as a Wildlife and Fisheries Technician A, B, or C.
