Job Description

As a Welding Specialist, you will be at the forefront of determining welding techniques and procedures for diverse applications. This role offers the opportunity to mentor and collaborate with other engineers, contributing to the creation of cutting-edge equipment and products. Your expertise will ensure the structural integrity and longevity of our products in demanding environments.

Responsibilities:

Establish welding procedures and welder qualification records to meet project requirements. Provide technical guidance to skilled labor and Weld Development Lab Technicians, fostering a collaborative environment. Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing advanced welding processes and techniques. Manage materials joining work plans, detailing schedules, budgets, and resource needs to achieve project milestones. Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineering teams to resolve joining challenges and optimize product designs. Actively participate in meetings to support engineering, manufacturing, and program management initiatives. Lead and mentor other engineers, sharing expertise and supporting their professional development. Ensure supplier qualifications and procedures meet required standards through reviews and audits.

Required Skills

Bachelor of Science in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, Metallurgy, or Materials Science. Proficiency in arc welding processes, including FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW, SMAW, and PTAW. Experience working with carbon, alloy, and stainless steels, as well as nickel and copper-based alloys. U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security clearances and approvals.

Preferred Skills

Advanced degree in a related field. 6+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of welding codes such as ASME Section III & IX, AWS, and NAVSEA. * Prior experience as a Welding, Materials, or Manufacturing Engineer.
