We have a great opportunity that just opened! We are now accepting applications for as a Health Records Technician 2 (HRT2), here at the beautiful Spokane Veterans Home, in Spokane, Washington! There is only one position, so it is best to apply early!

Position(s) at this location will also receive 5% Premium Pay for facilities open twenty four hours per day. Employees must physically work at the facility 3 days per workweek to qualify. The 5% Premium Pay is in effect until June 29th, 2025.

Please note: The work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

*This position has been posted within the assigned pay range through Step L. Step M has not been published as this is considered the longevity step, in alignment with state HR compensation rules.

In this role, you will maintain and update health/medical records according to retention schedules. You\'ll also be responsible for coordinating, retrieving and reviewing these records for medical related public record requests.

Duties

Some of what you\'ll be doing includes:

  • Develop, review, and update records retention and essential records schedules.
  • Supervise ward clerk staff, including monitoring performance, coaching, and instructing.
  • Code diagnosis using ICD-10 coding and classification system.
  • Review medical records policies and procedures for admission and discharge records.
  • Provide updates of facility resident census, run census reports, print orders, medication, treatment, and flow sheets.
  • Responsible for updating the physician billing (Superbill).
  • Review the providers documentation and selected CPT codes.
  • Direct and oversee an Office Assist in multiple tasks.
  • Protecting the privacy and security of residents\' health information.
  • Perform on the job training to Office Assistant, monitors and promotes completion of all training requirements for subordinate staff on a quarterly basis.
  • Participate in meetings and committees as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in health information management, business administration or related field.
AND
  • Three years of experience in Health Information Management (medical records) office, office management, healthcare privacy office, compliance office or closely related area.
OR

Equivalent education/experience.
AND
  • Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA); or obtain RHIT Certification within 12 months of hire date.
Special requirements:
Maintain National certification through AHIMA as a Registered Health Information Technician.
