Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department is seeking an experienced Wastewater Treatment Plant Maintenance Manager with a focus on industrial and infrastructure mechanical and operational knowledge. The ideal candidate will bring experience in maintenance, repair, diagnostics, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and technical systems knowledge, particularly within the wastewater or utility sectors. A strong background in supervision, budget preparation, forecasting, and security systems in an industrial facility, emphasis on safety and efficiency, is essential. This field position requires the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and handle physically demanding tasks. Essential Functions:

Plans, schedules, and manages maintenance of a wide variety of specialized mechanical, electrical, heating/cooling equipment, infrastructure, buildings, structures, and grounds;
Inspects plant(s) frequently to ensure proper maintenance;
Formulates, establishes, and directs long-range maintenance programs;
Coordinates maintenance/repair actions with wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) operations, power production, maintenance, SCADA, and Process Optimization staff to avoid or minimize disruption of equipment and systems operations and maintenance;
Supervises, assigns work to, and instructs assigned personnel;
Supervises installation and testing of new or rebuilt equipment;
Assists with scope of work and serves as project manager for repair and maintenance of specialized mechanical, electrical, heating/cooling, equipment, infrastructure, buildings, structures and grounds;
Evaluates and recommends changes to maintenance, repair, modification, construction contract provisions for compatibility with WWTP processes and practices;
Supervises development and maintenance of current routing and emergency repair, and maintenance operating instructions;
Supervises maintenance of equipment, system, and facility operating and maintenance logs, work orders, service requests, and related documentation;
Develops, forecasts, and submits section budget requests and recommendations for future fiscal year budgets to management;
Coordinates with department personnel on asset disposition processes and prepares required documentation for asset removal.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in mechanical, industrial, civil, manufacturing, engineering/technology or construction management,
AND
two years of experience in the construction, operations or maintenance of industrial, manufacturing, mining utilities such as power generation, water filtration/treatment or wastewater treatment/collection systems
INCLUDING
one year in a supervisory capacity.
(Supervisory experience may be concurrent.)
(Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)
OR:
Four years with Pima County in a Wastewater Maintenance Supervisor or related position, as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum three ( 3) years experience purchasing, adjusting, repairing, and maintaining technical systems at an industrial facility, heating/cooling systems, DSX, security cameras and gates, and Simplex Systems.
Minimum five ( 5) years experience managing projects, including the repair and maintenance of equipment and infrastructure assets at an industrial facility.
Minimum three ( 3) years experience creating and forecasting large fiscal year budgets, and purchasing and contract knowledge.
Minimum two (2) years experience reading blueprints and specifications.
Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Selection Procedure:
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant's suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. All positions require regular or occasional crawling, kneeling, squatting, lifting/carrying objects up to fifty pounds, pushing and pulling of objects up to seventy-five pounds, and the ability to properly don and doff fall protection to enter and work in confined spaces. Essential to this position is corrected or sufficient vision; the ability to see, read, and interpret written information, manuals, gauges, etc., including distinguishing various colors. Also essential to this position is corrected or sufficient hearing; the ability to hear and comprehend voice communications in-person, over a radio, and phone, and to hear operating equipment.
Working Conditions: Some positions require on-call rotations. All positions require the operation of machinery, powered industrial equipment and motor vehicles. All positions require outdoor work, including during inclement and hot weather, and exposure to waterborne pathogens/agents, hazardous materials and gases, water hazards and wet/slippery surfaces, odors, fumes, humidity, dirt, dust, traffic hazards, venomous pests, uneven surfaces, and electric arc flash potential.
