Description

Responsibilities: Maintaining all equipment, repairing and/or rebuilding all mechanical components, maintaining all necessary electrical work on all equipment, directing waste water distribution through series of aerators, pumps/valves, pipes, center pivot irrigators, and spray heads, maintaining logs of both volumes of waste water distributed and equipment usage and maintenance performed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Able to work on yard dogs and diesel equipment is a requirement

• Mapping out work procedures using technical manuals and charts
• Reading and interpreting diagnostic test results to identify problems and determine the solution
• Inspecting various parts of vehicles, including transmissions, engines, steering mechanisms and brake systems, while following checklists to ensure all important parts are examined
• Replace malfunctioning parts
• Performing basic maintenance and care, including tire rotations, oil changes and checking fluid levels
• Test-driving vehicles to ensure everything is working properly
• Performing preventative maintenance on yard dogs and tractors
• Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting components, parts, or systems, such as electrical fuel, emission, brake, steering and hydraulics
• Completing oil changes and brake checks
• Ensuring the cleanliness of the shop

Able to operate waste water treatment and distribution system equipment and facilities

Self-sufficient in electrical, pumps/valves, pipes, plumbing, welding and in heavy equipment operation

Able to ensure that waste water distribution rates meet prescribed ground absorption capacity and/or crop utilization allowances

Able to operate waste water distribution system to maintain adequate storage capacity in lagoons for daily waste water production

Able to operate backhoes and trenchers during installation of pipelines, pumps and related waste water distribution equipment

Have a knowledge of workplace safety rules

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent

Must be able to speak, read and write English
