ENERGY ADVISOR



OBJECTIVES



To provide professional guidance on energy efficiency, electric usage and power quality. To facilitate implementation of energy efficient programs and services. To provide educational programs at schools and community events.

Reports to: Vice President of Member Services and IT

POSITION CLASSIFICATION




Non-exempt position eligible for overtime.





ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



Assists members in understanding their electric bills and usage patterns using available data. Suggests ways to reduce energy consumption and improve energy efficiency. Documents all member interactions accordingly. Assists Member Services personnel in reviewing individual member accounts with billing and energy use inquiries and high bill complaints. Collaborates with Energy Services personnel as needed. Evaluates quality of equipment and workmanship for compliance with industry specification standards. Utilizes various measurements to identify issues and make recommendations for improvement. Consults and advises builders, contractors, and members regarding energy efficiency standards for residential insulation, weatherization, and heating/cooling equipment. Advises on new energy efficient technologies as they become available. Promotes and supports renewable and emerging technologies including solar, energy storage, smart home technologies and demand management. Promotes and facilitates delivery of TVA EnergyRight Residential programs and services. Promotes and facilitates delivery of Warren RECC energy efficiency programs and services. Keeps familiar with and promotes services and programs offered by Warren RECC and its subsidiaries. Communicates program information to public in various community settings including churches, civic groups, schools, and industry associations. Presents electrical energy use and efficiency educational programs to schools, businesses, civic groups, and other community events. Assists with member outreach, including our Annual Meeting and Member Appreciation Day. Reviews and analyzes data associated with energy consumption, temperatures and power quality. Helps develop marketing content and ensure residential energy program information is accurate across platforms. Assists in the development and/or acquisition of exhibits on energy management and utilization programs. Evaluates and recommends continuous improvement in Member Services procedures to provide for increased efficiency. Assists in the development of organizational policies, procedures, and plans to meet operating goals. Assists in the formulation of the department budget and training items Assists with Emergency Restoration Plan updates and implementation. Actively participates in Cooperative-sponsored activities. Works according to safety rules and policies adopted by Warren RECC, is responsible for own safety, and reports all accidents to supervisor. Complies with traffic laws, regulations, and safe practices while operating company vehicles. Completes all training as required.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS



POSITION: Energy Advisor



EDUCATION



Associate's degree or technical school certificate in building, electricity, air conditioning/refrigeration, engineering technology or related field is required. Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification, strongly preferred. Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation, Association of Energy Engineers, recommended.

EXPERIENCE



Must have four years' experience in installation and maintenance of residential heat pumps, electric air conditioning, and other heating/cooling equipment. Must have the experience to reasonably, effectively, and accurately account for individual energy use through troubleshooting, historical use patterns, seasonal factors, etc.

KNOWLEDGE



Must have an understanding of building materials and construction procedures. Must be able to read blueprints and specifications and be knowledgeable of heating/cooling equipment, duct sizing, and heat gain/heat loss calculations. Must have an understanding of electrical equipment and its relationship to energy utilization. Must have knowledge of power quality concepts. Must have an understanding of residential and non-residential rate classifications as they apply to billing accuracy. Must be proficient in billing, energy management, and metering software systems.

ABILITIES AND SKILLS



Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of personal member information. Should have good verbal and written communications skills and be able to maintain positive relationships with members, co-workers, and the general public. Must possess a high degree of integrity and honesty in interactions with members. Must be able to maintain calm composure when working to resolve issues with members. Must have the initiative to work independently and responsibly with a minimum of supervision. Must be able to work in a team environment. Must have computer skills to access, create, and manage records quickly and efficiently. Must be able to collect and analyze data. Must have organizational and time management skills. Should be mechanically inclined with the ability to use a wide variety of tools and measuring instruments.

WORKING CONDITIONS



Job mostly involves working in an office environment. At times, job involves working outside during varying conditions including maneuvering in tight spaces of attics and crawlspaces. Job involves exposure to member utilization voltage. Must be able to work safely around energized electrical equipment, including the main electrical distribution panel, meter base, etc. Job involves direct contact with members. A moderate amount of physical work required both indoor and outdoor. Irregular working hours may be required. Some lifting is required.
