In the Warehouse Operations Unit, and under supervision of a Warehouse Manager I (WMI), the Warehouse Worker is responsible for performing a variety of warehousing functions including the receiving, storing, inventorying, and shipping of warehouse items and equipment.

Working Conditions

In Office

: This position supports and manages the day-to-day business operations for Cal OES which is handled in an office location. This is not considered a hybrid telework position.

DMV Pull Program

The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is an emergency response, homeland security, and disaster recovery agency and as a result, is a dynamic and exciting place to work in a team-oriented environment. Cal OES provides training to enhance the understanding of emergency and incident management to all employees.



The Finance & Logistics Administration Directorate oversees sections managing Cal OES operations including budgeting, fiscal analysis, accounting, grants management, human resources, labor relations, staff recruitment, examinations, organization and professional development, disaster and internal logistics support. The Directorate is comprised of four sections: Administrative Services, Human Resources, Grants Management and Logistics.



In the event of an emergency, employees may be contacted and requested to report to work in the event of an emergency. This contact may be outside of your normal working hours (evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays). This service may require irregular work hours, work locations other than the official duty location, and may include duties other than those specified in your official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and you may be required to relocate to emergency sites.

Desirable Qualifications


In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
Demonstrate a strong knowledge of warehouse principles and procedures. Knowledge of inventory methods and procedures. At least one year of experience assisting in the receipt, storage, and issue of materials from a centralized stockroom or warehouse. Possess exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service. Ability to physically bend, stoop, stretch, turn, and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds on a continuous basis. Ability to walk and stand on concrete floors for prolonged periods of time. Ability to work in an environment that requires the incumbent be free from sensitivity to normal warehouse conditions including heat, cold, dust and /or other debris. Ability to safely operate a state vehicle, forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment. Proficiency in computer operations, to include Microsoft Office Suite products. Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures and report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Unit manager.
