The Warehouse Manager is responsible for leading and managing the supply and distribution operations of The Food Basket Inc. through inventory management, warehouse and delivery of product in alignment with the strategic plans to reduce hunger across the state. This position is responsible for overseeing the handling, storing, processing and distributing donated food products throughout the island. This position will collaborate with management to ensure facility cleanliness. The Warehouse Manager will proactively support service to other agencies, volunteers, and customers through successfully managing the day-to-day operations of the warehouse environment.
Essential Duties and Core Accountabilities
Supervision
Supervising the drivers and the warehouse associates.
Completes interviews, hiring procedures, scheduling, and performance management including employee development.
Serves as a liaison between staff, donors, agencies and programs as needed.
Compliance & Training
Responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures affecting the product and warehouse
Conduct training as needed for workers to ensure effective and compliant service delivery
Educate staff on processes and procedures while driving continuous improvement efforts
Maintain and utilize data and statistics and monitor for improved outcomes; Drive continuous improvement efforts; and Provide direction and leadership regarding issues and concerns.
Delivery Operations
Oversee the route delivery of products ensuring safe loading, unloading and driving procedures are adhered to; work with other departments setting up mobile and pop up distributions.
Ensure the safe operation and proper loading of assigned vehicle; Ensure drivers have identified and planned safe routes to ensure economical use of time and equipment.
Ensure drivers are maintaining logs and driving times in accordance with DOT standards; Responsible for ensuring vehicles are inspected daily and all DOT regulations are met.
Maintain vehicles through light maintenance including fluid checks; Responsible for ensuring heavy maintenance is performed on vehicles for safe operation; and complete proper inspection and maintenance paperwork for reporting purposes.
Warehouse Operations
Oversee warehouse operations to ensure proper handling of product; maintain day-to-day operations of warehouse by initiating, coordinating and enforcing program, operational, and certification procedures, standards and requirements.
Comply with Food Safety handling processes; Ensure adherence to Feeding America program requirements; Ensure proper security controls are in place throughout the warehouse; Complete daily inspections and monthly warehouse safety inspections.
Maintain physical condition of the warehouse by planning and implementing design layouts, inspecting tools and equipment, and issuing work orders for repair and maintenance.
Receipt product, enter data in food bank software, and oversee other staff receipting and entering products.
Education and Experience
Successful candidates for this position are required to have a minimum of five years' experience in warehouse operations or management in transportation and/or equivalent work experience. A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or an equivalent degree is preferred. A Class A CDL license is also preferred in the event a backup driver is needed.
