Job Overview:

We are seeking a reliable and energetic

Walking School Bus "Driver" to join our team. This person will be at the forefront of a community initiative, driving healthy and accessible school transportation for local students.

As a Walking School Bus Driver, you will be responsible for safely chaperoning students from designated (timely) route stops to Wilson Elementary School in the morning. The schedule directly mirrors that of the Janesville School District and the Walking School Bus operates school-year round, cancelling only for extreme weather.

Job Duties:

- Chaperone students along designated, timely routes

- Ensure the safety of students and volunteers by following all traffic laws and Walking School Bus policies and procedures

- Pickup, maintain and replace all Walking School Bus materials and supplies from centralized location before and after each shift

- Communicate effectively with students, volunteers and staff

- Engage students and volunteers in daily enrichment opportunities

- Serve as primary contact for, and supervisor to, Walking School Bus volunteers

- Provide neccessary information and feedback relative to routes, schedules, changes, attendance and participation

- Adhere to all safety protocols and emergency procedures, reporting to appropriate parties as directed

Job Qualifications:

- 18+ years of age

- Previous experience with children strongly preferred

- Knowledge of predetermined route area (surrounding Wilson Elementary School)

- Ability to communicate effectively in English; multilingual skills are a plus

- Must pass a background check

- Training to be paid and completed within 72 hours of hire
