The One Utah Service Fellowship is an AmeriCorps program that provides opportunities for young adults 17-30 to participate in sustainable and high-impact service to address the critical priorities and needs in Utah while supporting debt-free pathways to higher education.
The William A. Burnard (W.A.B.) Warming Center strengthens our community by providing safety, warmth, and care for unhoused individuals and families on the coldest nights of the year in Cache Valley, Utah.
Job Summary:
- This position is 33 hours per week for 5 months
- Minimum of 675 hours
- Anticipated schedule is Monday - Tuesday (4pm - 11pm) and Wednesday - Friday (6pm - 11pm)
Responsibilities may include:
- Developing partnerships with community groups and organizations
- Researching, reviewing and revising organizational policies
- Supporting short term projects that can be begun and completed within the term of service
- Assisting in preparing reports for community partners
- Developing or expanding volunteer program
- Developing organizational volunteer training and or manuals
- Recruiting, managing, and or training volunteers
- Connecting clients to community resources that address needs identified by
participants themselves or staff members
- Utilizing existing database to match individuals to most helpful, applicable resources. If
resources to meet an individual's identified needs are not represented in the resource database, members will work creatively to research and find other resource options
- Assisting the individuals in phone calls or other necessary communication with resources and community organizations
- Ensuring documentation of each individual interaction is thorough and complete in the
database
- Distributing and conducting follow up surveys with individuals who have received services
- Assisting host site staff by acting as a filter and offering to address issues within the scope of position
- Community Engagement Support
- Developing or conducting program outreach
- Preparing tables and presentation material
- Developing marketing campaigns
Eligibility Requirements:
Be 17 years of age or older
Have a high school diploma or GED
Pass State & Federal background checks
Be a U.S. Citizen, National, or Legal Permanent Resident
Member benefits and details:
- Fellow will receive a living allowance twice monthly of $750
- Upon completion, successful fellows earn an education award of $2,817.14, which can be used for education costs up to cost of attendance or for eligible student loan repayment
- Fellows may qualify for loan deferment and interest forbearance on federally- guaranteed student loans, with potential interest repayment while serving
- Access to Member Assistance Program: Includes free telephonic mental health counseling, professional assessments, webinars, and exclusive discounts.
