Essential Duties

Mississippi University for Women Department of Music invites applications for Instructor of Voice Position. The position will begin Spring 2024. Salary will be commensurate with teaching and related experience. The position is open rank: Instructor of Voice, Visiting Assistant Professor of Voice or Assistant Professor of Voice level.

Teach applied voice to Undergraduate Music and Non-music Majors, voice related classroom courses (Class Voice, Diction for Singers, and Voice Pedagogy) and Music Appreciation lecture classes. Ability to teach in other musical areas is required; experience with Music Appreciation is a plus. Other responsibilities include maintaining a dynamic performance schedule, participating in research and scholarly activities, and active membership and involvement in regional and national professional organizations. Additional responsibilities include recruitment of outstanding students, participation in committee work, and service to the university and community.
Minimum Qualifications

A Master\'s Degree in Vocal Performance is required by the time of the appointment. Evidence of an active performance career and success as a studio teacher of applied voice is required. A minimum of 2 years teaching experience is required. Functional piano skills are required; advanced piano skills will be considered an asset. Experience with Opera and Musical Theatre will be considered an asset. Experience and interest in performing contemporary classical music will also be considered an asset.
Summary
