40%- Classroom and Workspace Maintenance

  • Clean, organize, and maintain functional classrooms and workspaces to ensure a safe and efficient learning environment.
30%- Photo Lab Operations
  • Open and close photo labs, prepare and set up the darkroom, and monitor lab activities during open hours.
30%- Equipment Management
  • Check out equipment to students, accurately record all transactions, and manage the intake and inspection of returned equipment.

Work Schedule

Required Qualifications
  • Must have completed PHTO 205 or PHTO 303, as indicated on application materials.
Advertised Salary Range
$11.00 per hour
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current Photography Major or Minor, as indicated on application materials.
  • Eligible for Federal Work-Study program, as indicated on application materials.
Position Overview
This role provides essential support to the Visual Art Photography Studios, classrooms, and Equipment Check-Out Office. Student workers help maintain clean, organized, and functional workspaces, assist with setting up and monitoring the darkroom during open lab hours, and provide customer service by checking out equipment to students and ensuring accurate tracking of all returns.

Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Employment Conditions
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
