CARNE Y ARENA - Job Posting 2023 Title: Visitor Experience Associate Company: Carne Y Arena, Studio PHI Location: Union Market, Washington DC Introduction: Legendary Films, Emerson Collective and PHI Studio present the virtual reality experience Carne y Arena created by director Alejandro G. I\xc3\xb1\xc4\x81rritu. Based on true accounts, Carne y Arena is a virtual reality installation where the lines between subject and bystander are blurred and bound together, allowing individuals to walk in a vast space and thoroughly live a fragment of the immigrant\'s personal journey. Carne y Arena holds the distinguished honor of being the first ever VR project to receive an Academy Award -- "in recognition of a visionary and powerful experience in storytelling." PHI Studio specializes in the co-production, co-creation, operation, marketing, and distribution of large-scale location-based immersive experiences and has established itself internationally at the forefront of the field. From May 2023 they will be operating the touring immersive exhibition Carne Y Arena in Washington DC, situated in the Union Market and are looking for motivated individuals to be a part of the team. About the role: The ideal candidate would be passionate, flexible, have attention to detail, and possess strong interpersonal skills to help facilitate the best experience for our guests. The position is temporary, for the duration of the exhibition in Richmond, and can be part or full-time, ranging from 20 hours a week to 40 hours a week. The Visitor Experience Associate will have two primary roles. One, Front of House, will be responsible for providing quality customer service to visitors of the exhibition and managing the box office. Two, Experience Operations, will also be responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of the visitor experience and will acquire specific knowledge of new technologies in virtual reality. RESPONSIBILITIES, FRONT OF HOUSE:

  • Greet visitors, validate their tickets and prepare visitors for entry into the experience
  • Answer visitor questions and manage customer service with the support of the Backstage Manager
  • Oversee the timing of the exhibition and make decisions on whether a late coming visitor can be admitted
  • Manage the distribution of visitors in the exhibition space if one room becomes unavailable due to a technician problem
  • Ensure spaces are safe, clean and operational during opening hours
  • Any other related duties as they pertain to their position
RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPERIENCE OPERATIONS:
  • Welcome visitors to the installation and provide instructions on equipment use
  • Operate the equipment specific to the exhibition
  • Monitor the visitor experience
  • Clean equipment after each use
  • Communicate any technical or operational problems to the Backstage Manager as they occur
  • Ensure that the spaces are safe, clean and operational during public opening hours
  • Any other related tasks related to the position
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and empathy as the sensible nature of the subject.
  • Fluent in English, Fluency in Spanish is an asset.
  • Box office and art gallery experience an asset
  • Experience in an art gallery is an asset
  • Experience with new technologies is an asset (VR, video games, computers)
