Video Game Console Repair Specialist

Lexington, KY, US, United States

Job Description

Meet QuickFlips

At QuickFlips Video Games, we're a team of overachievers on a mission to dominate the used video game market through superior tech, airtight systems, and operational excellence. There are plenty of video game stores and buyback websites out there, but at QuickFlips we set our own bar. We're a fast-growing, Lexington-based startup, and our team loves nothing more than hitting goals and breaking our own records.

Unfortunately, many people have grown accustomed to mediocrity in this industry. If you've sold any video games in the past you've probably either gotten lowballed by GameStop or another large online company, or maybe gone to a mom-and-pop shop and had to deal with disinterested employees and slow checkouts. At QuickFlips we're setting a new standard of excellence for our customers both online and in-store. Our website myquickflips.com allows users to sell us their games remotely with full price transparency, and our retail store constantly exceeds our customers' expectations with our friendly, professional staff and trade values that far exceed our competition.

In the last twelve months our team has grown from four to seventeen. We doubled our revenue this year and have sold over $4M in video games online and in our brand new retail store. We have an ambitious goal of $7M in companywide revenue next year, -- and expanding our repair capabilities is mission-critical to getting there.

That's where you come in.

Role: Video Game Console Repair Specialist (Contract-to-Hire)

We're looking for a

skilled, reliable console repair technician

to help us restore and refurbish used hardware for resale on Amazon, eBay, and in our retail store.

This is a

contract-to-hire role

, meaning we start on contract, evaluate performance, and -- if it's a great fit -- transition into a full-time position with long-term growth potential.

You'll be responsible for

diagnosing issues, repairing consoles, replacing components, cleaning/refurbishing units, and ensuring everything meets QuickFlips' high quality standards

before it goes out the door.

You'll report directly to our Head of Online Operations.

This is a high-impact position for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, loves problem-solving, and takes pride in repairs done right.

Who You Are

You know consoles

Hands-on experience repairing modern and retro video game systems -- from HDMI replacements to joystick drift to disc drive issues and beyond.

You're a natural problem-solver

You enjoy diagnosing issues, tracking root causes, and solving challenging hardware problems.

You're humble

We love working hard and beating our own records, but we leave our egos at the door.

You've got steady hands and attention to detail

Whether soldering, disassembling, cleaning, or testing -- precision matters.

You can work quickly without cutting corners

You understand the balance between repair speed and repair quality -- and you know how to optimize both.

You think in systems

You're always looking for ways to streamline workflow, organize parts, improve tools, and tighten repair processes.

You handle multiple repairs at once

You can manage a queue of units, move between tasks efficiently, and stay organized under pressure.

You communicate clearly

You update the team on part needs, repair timelines, unit statuses, and blockers -- no surprises.

You're hungry

We're flexible on exact technical background, but not on work ethic. Hard workers with a desire to grow thrive here. This role has long-term potential for the right person.

The Results You Bring

High-quality, reliable repairs

Repairs work the first time, pass testing consistently, and reduce customer returns.

Faster inventory processing

Your repair throughput helps ensure hardware moves quickly into sellable condition.

Accurate tracking & documentation

Inventory always reflects correct statuses, notes, and repair histories.

Reduced bottlenecks

Because you communicate clearly and request parts proactively, the repair pipeline stays smooth.

A scalable repair operation

You help build clean, repeatable systems that allow QuickFlips to grow its repair volume month over month.

Potential for full-time hire

Demonstrated skill, consistency, work ethic, and growth will lead to long-term opportunities at QuickFlips.
