Video Department Manager/Video Engineer

Job Summary
The
Video Department Manager
is responsible for leading the video department, overseeing both warehouse and live event operations, and performing key technical roles such as camera operation, graphics, playback, LED walls, video switching, and engineering. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the highest level of video production quality for our live event clients across the country.
Key ResponsibilitiesVideo Department Leadership
Lead and manage the video department, ensuring staff are trained in warehouse prep, quality control, repairs, and show roles.
Schedule, delegate, and oversee team responsibilities; hold regular team meetings.
Provide mentorship and performance evaluations to support team growth and success.
Equipment & Inventory Management
Manage and maintain video gear using Flex (or similar rental software).
Conduct routine maintenance and QC of all video equipment.
Develop and enforce SOPs for video operations, safety, and care.
Cross-Department Collaboration
Work closely with sales, operations, project managers, and technical teams.
Assist with quoting, pre-production planning, and post-event reviews.
Communicate effectively with clients and on-site partners to ensure exceptional service.
Budgeting & Procurement
Manage department budget; recommend strategic investments.
Research and procure new video gear to keep inventory current and competitive.
Maintain vendor relationships and monitor departmental spending.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure operations meet safety and compliance standards.
Perform risk assessments and implement preventive measures.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe workspaces on-site and in the warehouse.
Technical Event Execution
Serve as the lead on-site technician for key events, performing roles including:
Camera Operator
Graphics Operator
Playback Technician
LED Technician
Video Switcher
Video Engineer
Coordinate seamless setup, integration, and teardown of video systems.
Qualifications
5+ years of video production experience (at least 2+ years in live events).
Strong technical skills in video systems and live event production.
Proven leadership experience managing technical AV teams.
Excellent troubleshooting and project management capabilities.
Authorized to work in the United States
Ability to speak English.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
Driver's license and clean driving record.
Preferred Skills & Attributes
Proficiency with Flex or other rental management systems.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to adapt to last-minute changes under live event pressure.
High attention to detail and quality standards.
Certifications in video production or related technologies are a plus.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in tight spaces (e.g., racks, booths).
Willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as needed.
Comfortable working in outdoor and indoor event environments.
