Veterinary Technician Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and possess the necessary skills to assist veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to pets. This role involves working closely with animals, their owners, and the veterinary team to ensure a safe and supportive environment for all.

Veterinary Technician Duties and Responsibilities

Care for small animals by bathing, feeding, watering, and exercising. Able to work around large animals such as cattle, horses, sheep & goats, etc. Assist in holding and restraining small animals during exams and surgical procedures. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels, exam treatment areas. Ensure exam and operating rooms are stocked. Change animal bandages, bedding, and kennel materials. Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the veterinarian. Assist in collecting samples such as blood or urine for testing, perform basic laboratory tests, and maintain laboratory equipment. Educate pet owners and families on proper animal care after surgery and with recovery instructions. Perform administrative duties such as updating files, checking patients out and processing payments, file patient records, etc.
Veterinary Technician Requirements and Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or course credit in veterinary technology or animal science from an American Veterinary Medical Association-accredited program a plus. Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently. Basic understanding of animal behavior and health care. Passion for working with animals and their owners. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel) Attention to detail in order to maintain accurate patient records. Physical ability to restrain larger pets when necessary.
Wages and Benefits

Wages based on experience, negotiable. Four and day work week plus 1 Saturday per Month. Paid Vacation and Holidays. Retirement Simple IRA Plan offered after 1 year of employment.
