We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our compassionate veterinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in animal care, veterinary procedures, and client communication. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting veterinarians by providing high-quality medical assistance, performing diagnostic tests, and ensuring the well-being of our animal patients. This position offers an engaging environment where technical expertise and animal handling skills are essential to delivering exceptional pet care.
Duties are not limited to:
Display compassion to all pets and owners that enter the practice.
Handle animals with care and professionalism, utilizing proper restraint techniques for dogs and cats.
Communicate effectively with customers, meet and greet customers for intake/discharge of pets. Contact/notify pet owners regarding observation(s) of pets during their stay.
Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining sterile environments using aseptic techniques.
Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostics to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
Take and process radiographs ensuring safety protocols are followed for both animals and staff.
IV cathetheter placement, fluid calculations and maintenance.
Anesthesia induction, monitoring and recovery
Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and supporting cleaning or extraction processes as needed.
Preparation of prescription medicactions.
Client education.
follow-up calls for patient care.
Conduct animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, grooming, administering medications, and monitoring health status to promote optimal animal welfare.
Maintain detailed medical records, update patient charts with treatment notes, and communicate effectively with veterinarian(s), staff and clients regarding pet care instructions.
Support all pets and critical care cases by monitoring vital signs, administering treatments, and providing compassionate animal care during recovery periods.
Requirements
Proven veterinary technician experience with a comprehensive understanding of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and anatomy.
Kennel experience combined with animal handling skills to manage diverse patient needs efficiently.
Knowledge of veterinary critical care practices along with laboratory experience for diagnostic support.
Familiarity with pet grooming, pet care routines, and animal restraint techniques
Experience working with laboratory equipment results such as X-ray images, microscopic evaluations.
Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively within the veterinary team and provide clear instructions to pet owners
Adhearance to vaccine protocol for both dogs/cats
Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35.0 - 40.0 per week
