BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Technician to join our Team.

Pay

: $20.00-$40.00/hourly

Shift:

3x 12-hour shifts per week, scheduled between 6:00 AM and 8:00 PM, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Shift times may vary within one of the following windows:

6:00 AM - 6:00 PM 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM

As a Hospital Ward Veterinary Technician, you will:

Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.

Utilize their ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.

Performs physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.

Understands normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.

Able to set up intravenous fluids.

Administers subcutaneous fluids.

Can operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.

Able to disconnect and connect patient from intravenous fluids aseptically.

Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.

Monitoring hospitalized patients , assessing behavioral changes and pain score.

Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.

Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.

Be proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.

Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.

Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.

Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
