Duties
Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques.
Handle animals safely and confidently, utilizing animal restraint techniques to ensure their comfort and safety during procedures.
Perform laboratory tests, including sample collection, processing, and analysis to support accurate diagnoses.
Maintain detailed medical records, including documenting treatments, medication administration, and patient progress.
Support pet owners by providing education on pet care, grooming, feeding, and post-operative instructions.
Conduct dental cleanings and understand dental terminology to assist with oral health procedures.
Operate diagnostic imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and interpret basic results to aid in diagnosis.
Manage kennel areas efficiently, ensuring animals are cared for, fed, exercised, and monitored regularly.
Assist with animal husbandry tasks for various species including dogs, cats, and equines, ensuring their well-being at all times.
Support veterinary critical care efforts by monitoring vital signs and providing emergency assistance when needed.
Requirements
Previous veterinary technician experience or related animal care background is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and veterinary critical care practices.
Experience with dog handling, pet grooming, pet care education, and animal restraint techniques.
Familiarity with laboratory procedures and diagnostic imaging such as X-ray technology.
Ability to perform animal catheterization and maintain aseptic techniques during procedures.
Kennel experience along with understanding of animal husbandry across different species including equines is advantageous.
Excellent communication skills for interacting effectively with pet owners and team members.
