The Animal Medical Center of Emmett is seeking a qualified Veterinary Technician to join our team! In this fast paced and rewarding role, you will support veterinarians and pet owners by delivering compassionate, efficient, and thorough veterinary services. Your expertise will help ensure our animal patients receive top-quality treatment and comfort, while fostering a positive environment for pet care professionals and pet owners alike.
Duties
Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment, maintaining sterile fields, and handling animals with care.
Perform routine dental cleanings
Perform animal restraint using humane techniques to ensure safety for both pets and staff during procedures.
Conduct laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostics to support accurate diagnoses.
Maintain detailed medical records, including vaccination histories, treatment plans, and laboratory results.
Support pet owners with pet care advice, including feeding, grooming, and medication administration.
Operate diagnostic equipment including X-ray machines and assist with radiographic procedures while adhering to aseptic techniques.
Manage animal catheterization and venipuncture procedures with precision to facilitate treatments and diagnostics.
Contribute to critical care situations by providing veterinary critical care support under supervision.
Requirements
Previous veterinary technician experience
Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and veterinary critical care practices.
Hands-on experience with animal handling techniques across various species including dogs, cats, and equines.
Familiarity with laboratory procedures, X-ray operation, pet grooming, dog training, and pet care routines.
Ability to perform animal restraint safely using proper techniques for different situations.
Strong understanding of aseptic techniques to prevent infection during procedures.
Excellent communication skills for working effectively with pet owners and team members.
Valid veterinary technician certification or equivalent experience in veterinary practice is preferred but not mandatory; relevant veterinary technician experience is highly valued.
