Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care and handling, with a passion for providing high-quality veterinary services. This role involves working closely with veterinarians and other staff to ensure the health and well-being of our animal patients. The Veterinary Technician will play a crucial role in assisting with various medical procedures, performing laboratory tests, and providing excellent customer service to pet owners.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures Perform routine laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging, including X-rays Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian Provide proper animal restraint and handling techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for all patients Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures Monitor anesthesia levels during surgical procedures and provide critical care as needed Conduct dental cleanings and familiarize clients with dental terminology Ensure cleanliness of the clinic, including kennel areas, exam rooms, and surgical suites using aseptic techniques Collaborate with team members to provide exceptional patient care

Qualifications

Previous veterinary technician experience is preferred; kennel experience is a plus Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and husbandry practices Experience with animal catheterization, restraint techniques, and handling various species including equine is advantageous Familiarity with laboratory procedures and critical care protocols in a veterinary setting Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients regarding pet care instructions Ability to perform dog training or grooming tasks is beneficial but not mandatory A commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of veterinary medicine

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
