Out West Veterinary Center is seeking an experienced and compassionate

Veterinary Technician

Experience Requirements:

Minimum of

two years of clinical experience

in a veterinary setting required.

Emergency or specialty experience

desirable

Personal Requirements:

Must be

at least 18 years old

Compassionate and committed to patient advocacy Able to remain calm, efficient, and professional in emergency or high-pressure situations Strong teamwork ability; able to work collaboratively with all levels of staff Excellent client communication skills with a balance of empathy and professionalism

Physical requirements:

Able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs independently (assistance provided for heavier patients); frequent standing, walking, bending, and restraining

Working conditions:

Exposure to zoonotic diseases, animal bites/scratches, loud noises, odors, and hazardous materials

Compensation & Benefits:

$15.00 - $18.00 per hour

, depending on experience
Benefits are outlined in the Employee Manual and are separate from hourly wage

Essential Skills & Duties:

Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to all patients Perform and document physical assessments and vital signs accurately Administer SQ, IM, and IV medications; place IV catheters; and monitor fluid therapy Perform and monitor anesthesia under veterinarian supervision, including induction, maintenance, and recovery Assist in surgical and dental procedures, including patient prep, monitoring, and post-op care Conduct diagnostic testing (bloodwork, urinalysis, fecal exams, cytology, fungal cultures) Capture, process, and evaluate radiographs and ECGs; assist in ultrasound preparation Perform emergency procedures (CPR, oxygen therapy, bleeding control, airway management, triage) Educate clients on vaccination protocols, medications, nutrition, and preventive medicine Maintain compliance with DEA and Arkansas controlled substance regulations Ensure hospital cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and inventory control Admit and discharge patients, providing clear medical and home-care instructions
