Oyster Bay Animal Hospital is seeking a compassionate and dedicated

Veterinary Assistant

to join our team! This position plays a vital role in supporting our doctors and technicians while ensuring every pet receives the highest level of care. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves working hands-on with animals, and values teamwork and learning.###

Some of the responsibilities you will own in this role:

Assist veterinarians and technicians during exams, treatments, and surgical procedures Prepare and maintain exam rooms, surgical suites, and treatment areas Provide gentle and effective restraint for patients when needed Perform basic laboratory tests (cytologies, urinalysis, fecals, etc.) and handle samples properly Maintain accurate medical records and assist with client communication Ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment for both patients and team members Support daily hospital operations with flexibility and a positive attitude

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in a veterinary setting preferred (training available for the right candidate) Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure Compassion for animals and empathy for their owners Comfort with handling pets of all sizes and temperaments Availability to work flexible hours, including some evenings or weekends
