Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Veterinary Pathology Tech to join our team. This role is essential in supporting the pathologist in diagnosing animal diseases . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in veterinary care, laboratory procedures, and tissue and fluid handling, ensuring the highest standards of care for our patients.

Applicant must know how to cut tissue to prepare for cassettes, be versed in microtome tissue cutting or willing to learn.

Needs excellent phone skills, data entry capabilities, filing (slides), etc.

The work week flexes based on number of cases. Some days might be 10 hours while others might be 6. It will balance out to 40 hours. So flexibility is mandatory.

Vet Path is a privately, family-owned company that only employs 2 outside of the doctor.

Responsibilities

Opening all packages that arrive daily. Read and mark/label all forms for each case. Enter each case into the system. Take prepared cases to cut the tissue. Answer phones professionally and friendly to answer the needs of each clinic we serve becoming acquainted with the clinics to foster relationship. Detailed notes of each call. Completing form for the procurement of cases from each clinic and documenting that call. Keep a daily sheet of all cases that come in. Understand the difference between a cytology and a histopath, understand and use correct terminology Prepare and handle biological samples for analysis. Prepare cytologies with staining prior to diagnosis. Prepare supplies for clinics, packaging the supplies and preparing them for FedEx. Delivering the packages to the FedEd office at the close of the day.

Skills

Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology and anatomy. Experience in animal husbandry Proficiency in laboratory techniques Familiarity with dental terminology Ability to handle various species Strong communication skills to effectively interact with team members and clinic techs and doctors. Previous experience as a veterinary technician or in a similar role is highly desirable.
