Job Description

Clocktower Animal Hospital is looking for a motivated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to assist both Doctors and LVTs in saving lives through preventive, general, and emergency care. The veterinary assistant will help educate clients on pet health, ensure the safety and comfort of patients and oversee continuity of care. This person will be integral in the day to day operation of our AAHA accredited clinic and a vital member of a seasoned team. A perfect candidate for this position will collaborate with team members to create a positive and comfortable environment for patients and provide professional, efficient service at all times. Clocktower supports its team members by hosting team meetings for company transparency, events to promote healthy team building, and encouraging attendance for Continued Education events.

Duties include, but not limited to:



Understands the needs of occasionally nervous, painful or unhappy patients, and be able to express empathetic, compassionate and professional behavior in occasionally difficult circumstances Venipuncture Preparing samples for lab specimens Safe and proper restraint of cats and dogs Ability to administer vaccine to cats and dogs Ability to perform Nail trim/Ear cleaning cats and dogs Performing in-house lab work and preparing lab work to be sent out Multi-tasking skills Assisting Doctors in appointment Caring for hospitalized patients Accurately entering in charges Properly checking in baths, grooms, boarders, and drop-offs Client education Assist in setup surgery procedures Assist with patient recovery Ability to clean, pack, and sterilize surgical instruments General housekeeping/kennel maintenance Some administrative tasking such as patient record keeping Punctual and consistent attendance A willingness to grow and adapt in stressful environments

Qualifications:



1 year of experience preferred, Entry level to be considered on a case by case basis.

Excellent communication skills (written and oral); Must be proficient in reading, writing, math, phone skills, and computer skills Knowledge of vaccine protocols, preventatives, and general animal care Ability to work and learn in a fast paced environment Remaining calm in stressful situations Have reliable transportation Ability to pass drug screening and criminal background check Knowledge of Idexx, Antech, and AVIMark is a plus but not required Flexibility is required for shifts as evenings and weekends are included
