experienced Veterinary Assistant

Job Overview:
As a Veterinary Assistant at Seven Oaks, you will play a key role in supporting the veterinary team to provide the highest level of care to our patients. You will work alongside veterinarians and veterinary technicians to assist with patient care, medical procedures, and client communication. This is a hands-on position that requires a skilled and proactive individual who is comfortable in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about providing excellent care for animals.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with patient care and treatment, ensuring all animals receive top-quality care
Monitor hospitalized pets and aid in post-operative recovery
Maintain inventory and ensure proper stock levels of medical supplies
Restrain animals for procedures such as blood draws, nail trims, and routine exams
Aid in diagnostic testing, including radiographs, bloodwork, and fecal analysis
Clean and disinfect hospital areas, including cages, kennels, and exam rooms
Administer medications under the supervision of Veterinarians or Veterinary Technicians
Provide basic care such as feeding, bathing, and monitoring animals' well-being
Answer phones, schedule appointments, and assist with client inquiries
Deliver exceptional customer service, educating clients about their pets' care needs
Help maintain the smooth operation of the clinic by supporting all departments
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old
1+ years of hands-on experience in a veterinary or animal care setting is required
Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
Comfortable with physically demanding tasks, including lifting and restraining animals (up to 40 lbs. independently, heavier animals with assistance)
Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of professionals, including veterinarians, technicians, and clients
A genuine love for animals and the ability to handle them with care, especially when they are stressed, ill, or in pain
