Duties
Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with animal examinations, treatments, and procedures, ensuring safety and comfort for all patients.
Handle animals using proper restraint techniques, including dogs, cats, and occasional poultry and wildlife to facilitate examinations and treatments.
Administer medications and vaccines accurately following veterinary instructions while maintaining aseptic techniques.
Support animal husbandry activities such as feeding, grooming, cleaning kennels, and maintaining sanitary conditions in the clinic.
Prepare animals for surgery or diagnostic procedures by collecting samples, setting up equipment, and ensuring proper animal positioning.
Maintain detailed records of patient care, treatments administered, medication schedules, and laboratory results in accordance with clinic protocols.
Provide front desk support by scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, answering client inquiries professionally, and processing payments.
Skills
Proven kennel experience combined with animal husbandry skills to ensure clean and safe environments for animals.
Veterinary technician or veterinary clinic experience demonstrating familiarity with medical terminology and clinical procedures.
Strong animal handling skills across various species including dogs and cats with an understanding of animal physiology and anatomy.
Ability to perform animal restraint safely during examinations or treatments while minimizing stress for the animals.
Experience with medication administration via oral, topical, injectable routes; knowledge of aseptic techniques essential for infection control.
Laboratory experience including sample collection, processing specimens accurately, and understanding basic diagnostic tests.
