Responsibilities



Assist Veterinarians and Technicians

in all aspects of patient care, including restraining animals safely and compassionately for exams, procedures, and treatments.

Prepare patients, instruments, and equipment

for surgery and diagnostic procedures (e.g., drawing blood, taking X-rays, collecting lab samples).

Monitor and provide basic care

for hospitalized and recovering patients, including administering oral medications, providing food and water, and ensuring patient comfort.

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation

of the hospital, including exam rooms, treatment areas, kennels, and surgical suites, ensuring strict adherence to bio-security protocols.

Process and run laboratory tests

such as fecal, urine, and blood samples, accurately recording results in the patient chart.

Manage inventory

by stocking supplies, unloading deliveries, and ensuring all areas are properly supplied.

Provide exceptional client communication

, answering phones, scheduling appointments, processing payments, and educating pet owners on basic pet care, medications, and post-procedure instructions.

Maintain accurate and organized medical records

, ensuring all services, treatments, and communications are properly documented.

Qualifications



High School Diploma or equivalent

is required; completion of a Veterinary Assistant program or relevant coursework is a plus.

Proven experience in an animal care setting

such as a veterinary clinic, animal shelter, or boarding facility is strongly preferred.

Familiarity with animal behavior, safe handling, and proper restraint techniques

for both dogs and cats is essential.

Strong communication and customer service skills

to effectively interact with colleagues and empathetic communication with pet owners, especially during stressful situations.

Ability to perform physical tasks

, including prolonged standing, bending, and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (or assist in lifting heavier animals).

Proficiency in basic computer skills

for record keeping and scheduling.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
