Job Description

The City of Dodge City is accepting applications for a Full-Time Utility Worker I in the Utilities/Public Works department. This position is responsible for all repair, maintenance and minor construction of the water and sewer systems within the City. The duties include, but are not limited to, installation of hydrants and services, repair of water lines, rodding sewers, maintaining wells, cleaning and maintaining equipment, daily service work and meter reading. This position has some interaction with the public, so good customer service skills are required.

The wage for this position is $19.82 per hour with full-time benefit package, including health/dental insurance, KPERS retirement, paid time off and holidays. Position works a minimum of 40 hours per week, non-exempt. After a training period, utilities maintenance workers may be eligible for on-call duties, qualifying them for extra duty pay. Up to a 5% bilingual pay incentive is available through post-hire bilingual testing.

These jobs require physical work including lifting and manipulating up to 75 lbs., and performing these duties in all types of weather. A valid Kansas driver's license is required with good driving record, and must obtain a Class B CDL with air-brake endorsement within 6 months of hire for all Public Works positions.
