Job Summary:

This position is responsible for basic safety, efficient, and proper operation of all equipment associated with utility plant and distribution system serving the UNMC/Neb Med campus.Operates, and shuts down boilers and their auxiliaries, chillers and their auxiliaries, generators and their auxiliaries, and all other necessary plant equipment from a central control room.Responsible for the operation and monitoring of the 13.8 KV and 5KV electrical distribution system serving the UNMC/Neb Med campus.Performs preventative and routine maintenance as assigned.

Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings and layouts Demonstrated mechanical and operational aptitude

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Education:Relevant coursework/specialized training


Type of Preferred Education:
Technical School, Trade School, Community College, Apprenticeship Program and/or related Education Program.


Type of Preferred Experience:
Operation and maintenance of high pressure boilers and related equipment. Fundamental knowledge of industrial plant chilled water, steam, and electrical systems Two years experience working with industrial equipment in either operations or maintenance.


Preferred License/Certification:
A valid City of Omaha 3rd, 2nd, or 1st Grade Stationary Engineer license


Preferred Knowlege, Skills, Abilities:
May be required to wear a respirator.
