Position Description

The City of Tolleson is seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Utilities Mechanic (M&O Trades Technician). A Utilities Mechanic performs a variety of installation, preventative maintenance, inspection, and repair work on wastewater treatment facilities, lift stations, and collection systems, including pumps, valves, piping, tanks, air compressors, rotary drum thickeners, bar screens, belt presses, gear boxes, and other essential equipment; Operates specialized and heavy equipment; Documents and updates work performed in logs, reports, and records; Performs maintenance activities in assigned area of responsibility; Maintains, measures, repairs, and overhauls pumps, valves and other related equipment; Inspects all plant mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment and machinery; Occasionally asked to assist other divisions with testing, maintenance and emergency repairs; and, Performs related work as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED, supplemented by 2 years of specialized training and 2 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Valid Arizona Driver\'s license and ability to maintain respiratory program requirements for SCBA required.

Additional Requirements:

• May require working weekends, evenings, nights, Holidays, overtime and emergency call-outs

• Requires ability to be in an on-call rotation

Physical Demands

Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Medium: Exerting 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 lbs. constantly.

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, blood and other bodily fluids, and extreme temperatures.

Job Information

Closing Date: Open until filled Hiring Range: $24.83 Hourly
