Under the general supervision of the Energy Supply Supervisor, monitors and operates the city water system and utility dispatching center. Duties are regularly performed on a rotating shift basis. When called upon, performs skilled work in the operational support of natural gas electrical generating power plants.

QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and/or experience in utility dispatching. Experience can include but not limited to, substation technician, line technician, power plant operator, telecommunications technician, transmission & distribution control center operations, engineering technician, or system planning. Additional training in electronic, computer programming, mathematics, communications, or power systems is preferred. Personal computer experience required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
Monitors and controls electrical substations, power flows, voltages, water wells, water pressure in mains, gas flows, gas main pressures and sewer collection and treatment facilities with SCADA equipment.
Implements and records all SPP Integrated Market energy transactions, load schedules, and ordering transmission to cover loads.
Monitors and logs readings of equipment, facilities, instruments, meters, etc. to assure various generation, production and distribution networks are operating properly.
Responds to various system alarms and equipment malfunctions.
Attempts to return problematic equipment to service.
Receives and responds to customer inquiries and service complaints.
Answers telephone calls on shifts where utility operators are off duty.
Dispatches on-call service personnel to respond to equipment problems, malfunctions, etc. and/or to restore service to customers or to investigate customer complaints.
