Job Description

Job Title: CNC/Manual Machinist
Location: Houston, TX - Aldine Westfield Road
Duration: 12 Months
Hourly Rate: $22-$24 (Depending on Experience)

The CNC/Manual Machinist supports the Aero Shop and Machine Shop by operating large CNC and Manual lathes, CNC and Manual VTLs, and CNC and Manual Mills. This role requires holding tight tolerances to meet OEM requirements and specifications. The machinist will read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, and sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, as well as the sequence of operations and setup requirements for Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, and Aero components.
Responsibilities

  • Support safety culture and promote a "safe to start" mindset.
  • Align large rotors, gas components, and parts within tight tolerances for machining, grinding, and runout corrections.
  • Program CNC lathes, VTLs, and milling machines.
  • Read and interpret OEM drawings, REIs, Work Instructions, and Digital Routers.
  • Apply working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Use basic algebra and geometry in machining operations.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut, or enter commands for computerized machine control media.
  • Start and observe machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls as needed.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on mills, lathes, and grinders.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced/expert skill level in indicating parts, turning OD's, turning ID's, grinding, and burnishing on:
  • CNC mill, CNC lathe, NC (figure feed rates)
  • Manual mill, Manual lathe, Manual VTL
  • Experience supporting Rotor Shop and Machine Shop operations, including Steam rotors, Gas rotors, Cases, Gas components, Aero components, and Value rack repairs.
  • Ability to operate both Manual and CNC machines.
  • Experience in Gas turbine repair (HSPT, GE10's, Fr3, Fr5, Fr6, and F7) rotors and component machining is a strong plus.
