Timberwise is a New England lumber mill dedicated to transforming locally sourced logs into kiln-dried, planed, build-ready lumber. Based in Millis, MA, we serve contractors, yards, fabricators, and promote a local chain of custody from log to lumber.

Job Summary

We're seeking a dependable

Saw Mill Laborer

to join our production team. This role involves assisting with sawmill operations, material handling, finished lumber sorting, and maintaining a safe, clean environment. Ideal for someone ready to grow in a hands-on manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

Assist sawyer(s) and machine operators with log positioning, feeding, and clearing Handle finished lumber: stacking, tagging, moving, quality inspection Keep work areas clean and safe; perform routine maintenance tasks as directed Follow standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and wear required PPE Report production issues, material defects, and maintenance needs Support team effort to meet production schedules and quality standards

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent preferred Previous manufacturing, millwork, or sawmill experience is a plus--but not required Physically fit: able to lift 50+ lbs, stand for long periods, climb ladders or stairs Safe work habits and willingness to follow procedures Basic mechanical aptitude, desire to learn machine operation and lumber processes Reliable attendance and punctuality Comfortable working in a fast-paced, noisy outdoor/indoor mill environment

Expected hours: 40 per week
