Upper School Math Teacher

Job Description

The Upper School Math teacher reports to the Upper School Director and collaborates with other Upper School teachers. Through its demanding academic and co-curricular programming, the Upper School places a strong emphasis on leadership formation, personalized learning, and experiential education.

The Math Department offers courses from Algebra I through AP Calculus BC. Full time faculty typically teach five sections of 2-3 different courses; flexibility across the math curriculum, even across MS and US divisions, is valuable.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES



Create differentiated instructional plans aligned with grade-level standards Collaborate with fellow teachers and specialists on curriculum development Assess student progress toward objectives, expectations, and/or goals to provide feedback to students, families, and administration Prepare a variety of written materials (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) to document student progress Communicate with families, colleagues, counselors, and specialists regarding students' educational objectives Attend and help organize family conferences and school events as needed Contribute to school culture and programming as an Advisor; support students as a club sponsor/Certificate committee member Use technology and other equipment and materials to instruct and support students Attend faculty/staff meetings and serve on committees as requested Fulfill weekly/monthly school duties as assigned Other duties as assigned by the Head of School.

PREFERRED QUALITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS



Bachelor's degree in Humanities; Master's degree preferred Humanities teaching experience, preferably at an independent school Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Core knowledge of the development of adolescents A passion for and experience with integrating technology into the curriculum Lauded experience building relationships with students, parents, and colleagues A commitment to collaboration and high ethical professional standards A collegial, energetic, and engaging demeanor An interest in and commitment to being a full member of the community
