The Unit Coordinator/Educator is accountable and responsible for assisting the Manager with day-to-day operations of the medical surgical unit and assisting the Education/Skills Coordinator with staff education. This includes demonstrating leadership skills, managing nursing practice, and/or operational issues. These activities should ensure appropriate outcomes and efficient, effective team processes, guiding activities of the area, including but not limited to the staff, environment, and patients. The Unit Coordinator/Educator will be required to assist staff with direct patient care as directed or scheduled by the Manager.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Graduate of an accredited program with a minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing.
Licensure:
Current MS RN license, temporary permit (valid for 90 days) or compact state license.
Experience:
Three (3) years in the specified clinical area or specified operational experience.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Competency in team building skills with accountability to the teams. Must be able to prompt change by assuming leadership roles in interdisciplinary teams and supporting the growth and development of team members. Must be able to communicate and collaborate with physicians, staff, and community to meet the patient needs for the area of management. Must have good written communication skills; be fair and rational and able to function in a clinical capacity. Must be able to make decisions when needed, have integrity, be responsible and dependable.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing. College courses in management and organizational behavior.

Experience:
In addition to the required experience a minimum of one-year supervisory nursing experience is preferred.
