Job Description

This position is responsible for reviewing, asking questions and making decisions on member consumer and HELOC loan requests & loan modifications. The Underwriter assists processors by providing information on consumer loans, sending DocuSign packets, and keeping tracking sheets up to date.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:





1. Provide high quality, timely and professional services to loan processors and members.



2. Review consumer and HELOC loan applications, rates, answer questions and identify loan product member needs & wants.



3. Provide Underwriting staff with support including, but not limited to answering questions, reviewing applications & following up on specific tasks.

4. Assist with loan closings by ensuring information is complete, file maintenance has been completed, and packets have been put together correctly.

5. Review, properly log and follow up with loan processors, on returned loan files reviewed by Quality Assurance.

6. Assist Quality Assurance with questions they may have on account file maintenance along with verifying all files for a given month have been received.

7. Backup Junior Underwriters with keeping the Totaled Vehicles tracking sheet up to date, follow up with members and staff as needed and file GAP claims.

8. Reviewing funds have been collected and listing incentives submitted by lending staff on tracking sheet for monthly payout.

9. Assist title department with Real Estate discharges and answer basic title questions.

10. Actively promote the Credit Union and cross-sell its products and services.

11. Ensure that efforts conform to applicable policies and regulations.

12. Respond to changes in organizational needs in a positive manner, performing other tasks as needed.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:





1. Maintain a reliable attendance record during scheduled hours.



2. Be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; especially Excel and Outlook.



3. Able to input data consistently and correctly regarding archiving documentation.



4. Possess excellent oral, writing, organizational skills, and attention to detail.



5. Excellent interpersonal and member service skills.



6. Adhere to departmental and credit union policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED




At least four years' experience in member service, credit union/banking, or a related field, demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills for exceptional member support.

High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education a plus.

At least 3 years of in consumer loan processor or equivalent preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:





The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. All essential functions are performed in an office setting. Temperatures in the climate-controlled office may fluctuate. Work area is sometimes noisy due to multiple member transactions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Employee may not be able to easily leave work area unless for a scheduled break.

The mental demands for this position include: the need to be alert to member needs, to be resourceful in solving member and loan processors problems, and to be precise when updating member accounts. The employee must be able to deal with people effectively under adverse and/or stressful conditions, occasionally be persuasive, use judgment, and exhibit patience.
