Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Tugboat Captain to lead our vessel operations with precision, safety, and confidence. As the captain of our tugboat fleet, you will be responsible for navigating, maneuvering, and managing tugboats to assist in the safe docking, undocking, and movement of maritime vessels. Your leadership will ensure smooth operations in challenging environments while maintaining the highest safety standards. Duties

Safely operate and navigate tugboats to assist larger ships in docking and undocking procedures within port or harbor areas Lead and manage crew members on board, ensuring effective communication and coordination during all operations Conduct pre-voyage inspections of the vessel's mechanical systems, rigging, and safety equipment to ensure optimal performance Oversee maintenance schedules and coordinate repairs or mechanical troubleshooting as needed Implement safety protocols and emergency procedures to protect crew, vessels, and cargo at all times Monitor weather conditions, navigational charts, and maritime regulations to plan safe routes and operations Collaborate with port authorities, ship crews, and management to facilitate efficient vessel movements and compliance with all regulations

Skills

Strong leadership abilities with experience managing maritime crews in high-pressure situations Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems related to tugboats, including engines, rigging, and propulsion equipment Proven expertise in navigation techniques specific to harbor maneuvers and close-quarters operations Background in military service or training that emphasizes discipline, strategic thinking, and operational excellence Skilled in rigging procedures for towing operations and securing vessels safely Excellent communication skills for clear coordination with team members and external stakeholders Basic management skills for overseeing maintenance schedules, safety protocols, and crew performance
