Trust and Estate Specialist
The Trust & Estate Specialist plays a vital role in managing and preparing tax returns for trusts, estates, and gift taxes, providing expert guidance to clients and team members. This role requires in-depth knowledge of trust and estate taxation, as well as the ability to integrate these concepts with individual, gift, and estate tax planning. The specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant trust tax filings, managing a diverse client portfolio, and guiding clients through the complexities of their trust documents. They mentor and train junior staff, collaborate with attorneys and other professionals to develop effective tax strategies, and seek opportunities to enhance the firm's trust tax services. Additionally, the role involves maintaining strong client relationships, advising on tax planning, and contributing to the growth of the firm's trust tax practice.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing various tasks associated with tax return engagements, specifically individual tax and trust tax.
Is able to sign tax returns and communicate results to client, with experience doing so (REQUIRED)
Can utilize various accounting software to pull client information
Ability to adhere to deadlines and prioritize appropriately
Help assess and prepare a projection of expected tax liability
Prepare individual (1040), trust (1041) and gift (709) tax returns.
Ability to recognize the need for an amended return and assist with preparation as needed
Assist with client tax notices
Ability to research new tax situations
Ability to stay up to date on changing tax laws
Strong communication and organization skills
Attentive to detail
A willingness to adapt and embrace new software
Ability to commute or relocate to Concord, NH
Other duties as assigned by management
Required Qualifications
CPA designation
Degree in Accounting or relevant experience
Public accounting experience
Ability to manage client relationships
A strong interest in pursuing a career in public accounting
An interest in applying information technology to an accounting environment
