Coe College seeks qualified candidates for the position of TRIO Student Support Services Advisor. This position assists the Director of TRIO SSS in creating, developing, and implementing programming for first-generation, low-income, and disabled TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) participants, including academic advising, tutoring, financial and economic literacy, graduate school preparation, career exploration, leadership development, and cultural enrichment. May teach and/or facilitate credit-bearing courses for TRIO SSS participants. This position is grant-funded through August 2026. Employment for this position beyond the current grant cycle is contingent upon continued funding.
Essential Job Responsibilities:

Assist the Director with recruiting eligible students.
Provide individual skills assessments and consultations.
Carry and advise a caseload of 70-80 TRIO SSS participants on academic planning, tutoring resources, financial and economic literacy, financial aid, graduate school preparation, career exploration, leadership development, and personal goals.
Prepare and lead group programming in academic, financial and personal development.
Maintain records of contacts in Blumen Online.
Function as a liaison and/or advocate for students with campus and community offices; refer students to appropriate college resources.
Provide on-going support for special projects initiated by the Director including, but not limited to, the Federal Annual Performance Report submitted to the U.S. Department of Education, strategic planning, and program/participant data analysis.
Engage in ongoing professional development through TRIO Priority Trainings, seminars, association meetings, webinars, conferences, etc.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
Experience working with disadvantaged students, students from underrepresented populations, and/or students with disabilities.

Successful completion of a background check in accordance with Coe College policy
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:
Position Specific: Experience in gathering and analyzing a variety of data related to the academic needs, interests, and educational and social background of students
Experience teaching/training in various settings including in a classroom and with small groups and individuals
Knowledge of the issues and challenges facing students who are first-generation, low-income, and/or disabled in higher education
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in computer use such as Microsoft Office, database management, and social media
Experience handling confidential information with professionalism and diplomacy
Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, policies, and best practices affecting student rights and privacy and data collection and reporting requirements
Competent understanding of and/or have overcome barriers similar to those confronting the SSS eligible students

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Standard office environment
Ability and willingness to work a schedule that includes some evenings and weekends, with overnight travel
