We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Surgical Technician to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will assist in surgical procedures by preparing operating rooms, sterilising equipment, and supporting surgical teams to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes. The Surgical Technician must demonstrate excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient care.
Duties
Prepare operating theatres by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies according to protocol.
Sterilise and maintain surgical instruments and equipment to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
Assist surgeons and nursing staff during procedures by passing instruments and supplies as needed.
Monitor and manage sterile fields throughout surgical procedures, ensuring aseptic techniques are maintained.
Handle specimens appropriately for laboratory analysis, documenting details accurately.
Maintain accurate records of surgical supplies utilised during procedures.
Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly before, during, and after surgeries.
Support the cleaning and sterilisation processes post-operation to prepare for subsequent procedures.
Adhere strictly to infection control policies and health & safety regulations at all times.
Requirements
recognised qualification as a Surgical Technician or equivalent healthcare qualification.
Proven experience working within a surgical environment is preferred.
Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilisation techniques, and aseptic procedures.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times.
Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings or weekends if required.
