Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Interventional Radiology (IR) RN to join our dynamic healthcare team. The IR RN plays a critical role in providing nursing care to patients undergoing interventional radiology procedures, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and high-quality outcomes. This role requires excellent clinical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with radiologists, technologists, and other members of the care team.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure nursing care for patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures.
Assess patient health status, review medical history, and complete pre-procedure checklists.
Prepare procedure rooms and ensure proper equipment, supplies, and medications are available.
Assist interventional radiologists and technologists during procedures, including sedation administration, patient monitoring, and sterile field maintenance.
Administer IV medications and moderate sedation under established protocols.
Monitor patient vital signs, response to treatment, and comfort levels throughout procedures.
Provide patient and family education regarding procedures, post-care instructions, and follow-up requirements.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient workflow and high-quality patient care.
Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing education, and training programs.
Qualifications:
Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
BSN preferred; ASN accepted with relevant experience.
Minimum 2 years of critical care, emergency, or perioperative nursing experience preferred.
Previous interventional radiology or procedural nursing experience strongly preferred.
Current certifications: BLS and ACLS (required).
Strong IV skills, hemodynamic monitoring knowledge, and ability to respond to emergencies.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills.
Work Environment:
Hospital-based interventional radiology department.
Rotating shifts, including on-call coverage for emergent procedures.
