Job Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients in a professional and compassionate manner, ensuring accurate lab results and patient safety. This role offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic medical environment, providing essential services that support diagnosis and treatment. Prior hospital experience and laboratory knowledge are highly desirable, alongside a strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Responsibilities



Collect blood samples from patients using aseptic techniques to prevent contamination or infection. Ensure proper identification of patients and samples in accordance with hospital protocols. Prepare specimens for laboratory analysis, including labelling and documentation. Assist with catheterisation procedures when required, maintaining sterile conditions throughout. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the phlebotomy area, adhering to health and safety standards. Provide patient care with empathy, particularly when working with vulnerable groups such as paediatric patients. Follow all relevant procedures related to basic life support in emergency situations. Document all procedures accurately within electronic health records. Support laboratory staff with additional tasks as needed to ensure smooth workflow.

Requirements



Proven experience in a hospital setting or laboratory environment is preferred. Certification or training in phlebotomy recognised by relevant health authorities. Strong knowledge of human anatomy and physiology relevant to blood collection procedures. Familiarity with medical terminology and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice. Experience with catheterisation procedures is advantageous. Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent communication skills with the ability to reassure and comfort patients, including children (pediatrics). Basic life support certification is desirable but not mandatory; training can be provided if necessary. A valid professional qualification demonstrating competence in phlebotomy or related fields is preferred. Pay: $1,350.00 - $1,400.00 per week
