Overview


We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for travel assignments across various healthcare settings. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical experience, including critical care, emergency medicine, geriatrics, and specialized patient populations such as those with developmental disabilities, dementia, or requiring hospice and palliative care. This position offers the opportunity to work in diverse environments such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, outpatient clinics, and community health settings, providing vital patient care while expanding professional expertise. The role requires flexibility to travel and adapt to different healthcare systems and patient needs.

Duties



Provide comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, and eClinicalWorks. Administer medications and injections with precision, including IV infusions, catheterizations, and sterile procedures. Assist with complex medical procedures such as cardiac catheterization, spinal taps, gastrostomy tube feeding, ventilator management, and wound suturing. Manage airway patency and ventilator support for critical patients in ICU or Level I/II trauma centers. Conduct diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing and medical imaging support. Document patient care accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and post-acute care coordination. Provide specialized care for diverse populations including pediatrics (neonatal ventilators), geriatrics (dementia & Alzheimer's care), behavioral health patients, and those with infectious diseases or requiring hospice services. Support patient education on health coaching, medication administration, nutrition, and disease management strategies. Maintain infection control protocols and aseptic techniques during all procedures.

Qualifications



Valid LPN license with current state licensure. Proven experience in various clinical settings such as ICU (including PICU), emergency room (ER), hospital medicine units, outpatient clinics, or home & community care environments. Extensive knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems and medical terminology. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks. Critical care experience including ventilator management and acute pain management preferred. Experience working with special populations such as patients with developmental disabilities or dementia is highly desirable. Ability to perform venipuncture, phlebotomy, sterile processing techniques, and other invasive procedures confidently. Strong assessment skills in physiology and anatomy to support diagnostic evaluation and treatment planning. Excellent communication skills to work effectively with patients of all ages--including children--and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams. Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings required for travel assignments.
