The City of Bothell's Public Works Department is looking for a Senior Transportation Planner to support implementation of the City's Comprehensive Plan and advance its forward-thinking transportation goals. This role will help shape a safe, multimodal transportation system and guide planning and project delivery that align with Bothell's vision for mobility, accessibility, and a high quality of life.

Note: This role will be onsite for up to the first six months, with opportunities to work a hybrid schedule thereafter.
What will you do in this position?

  • Perform advanced transportation planning, research, field investigations, and analysis independently to address complex challenges and support City goals.
  • Coordinate and facilitate collaborative decision-making with other departments, the public, agencies, boards/commissions, and City Council.
  • Oversee the planning, analysis, and implementation of transportation engineering projects, corridor studies, and transportation planning initiatives.
  • Lead transportation components of Comprehensive Plan updates, amendments, monitoring, and subarea planning efforts.
  • Work on near-term projects and programs such as a micromobility strategy, potential citywide speed-limit reductions, feasibility studies for a circulator, curb management, commute trip reduction, transportation demand management, and complete streets initiatives.
A successful candidate in this position will:
  • Collaborate with the Bothell Community and Departments to build strong, successful partnerships that achieve shared goals.
  • Ensure clear and efficient communication of information and ideas through diverse communication channels.
  • Identify new and different approaches to situations, challenges, and opportunities, demonstrating creativity and innovation in problem-solving.
  • Create efficient methods to accomplish work, coordinates people and activities, and uncover opportunities for collaboration and integration that others may miss.
