Overview:
Location: University Park, IL Department: Dot Transportation, Inc (DTI) Reports To: Director of Transportation


Your Role: To provide service to internal and external customers and manage/ contain costs while effectively managing the driver or dispatching staff.

• Utilizes team and equipment in a cost-effective manner.
• Coordinates with dispatch for efficient and effective fleet resource utilization.
• Assists with vehicle safety issues.
• Assists in recruiting, retention and hiring of transportation department staff.
• Assists with budget preparation and execution.
• Supports overall dispatch, traffic, and driver management goals.
• Addresses/ resolves customer issues.
• Manages the on-board computer system and hours of service for all drivers.
• Leads continuous improvement efforts while applying lean thinking and tools to eliminate waste.

Role Specifics:

• Travel \xe2\x80\x93 Occasional overnight travel to other company facilities or outside facilities for training. Must have ability to travel independently as needed, without restriction by all modes of transportation, including car, plane, or train.
• Schedule \xe2\x80\x93 Ability to work flexible hours (weekend, night shift and on-call) based upon facility needs.

• Excellent communication skills
• Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft office programs

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or comparable Dot experience
• Prior management experience of 3-5 years minimum
• Prior transportation experience
• Ability to function in a multi-task environment
