Provide leadership, oversight, and guidance to Training Specialist 1 staff, including supervision, coaching, and professional development.
Oversee the development, coordination, and implementation of agency-wide training initiatives (e.g., Customer Service Program, Supervisory Certificate Program).
Support Training Specialist 1 staff in curriculum development, instructional design, and training project execution.
Review and approve training drafts, updated materials, job aids, and related training resources for quality, accuracy, and alignment with DOL branding.
Identify agency training needs and lead the design, development, and scheduling of appropriate training programs.
May manage SLMS functions related to training setup, tracking, and reporting.
Participate in complex meetings and collaborate with stakeholders to develop new training procedures, solutions, and learning strategies.
Assist in the creation of informational materials related to new or updated training practices.
Integrate technology, e-learning tools, and web-based platforms into training design and delivery.
Review training metrics-including attendance, completion rates, and evaluations-submitted by Training Specialist 1 staff to support continuous improvement.
Oversee and help maintain the EDGE SharePoint site, including approving updated training materials, videos, and job aids.
Provide technical and programmatic assistance to EDGE Directors, including coordination of special projects, statewide training events, and Governor's Office initiatives.
Serve as EDGE's Training Liaison for assigned divisions to ensure communication, consistency, and effective training support.
Achieve and maintain instructor certifications in areas relevant to DOL training needs, with emphasis on technology and workplace skills.

Reassignment Qualifications: Current Department of Labor employees only, with at least one year of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service in a Training Specialist 2; if you have less than one year, you must be reachable on the current Training Specialist 2 eligible list for this location, if one exists. 52.7 Non-Competitive Promotion (NCP) Qualifications: To be eligible for NCP, candidates must be in the Department of Labor promotion field and have one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55 b/c service as a Training Specialist 1. If 3 or fewer qualified Department of Labor Training Specialist 1 respond to this posting, Civil Service may approve the permanent appointment of one of the qualified Training Specialist 1 without further examination. Note: Non-competitive refers to not competing in an examination; the appointment will be competitive. Provisional Qualifications: Candidates must be in the Department of Labor promotion field and have one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55 b/c service as a Training Specialist 1. The appointed candidate would have to take, pass and be reachable on the next holding of the examination to be appointed permanently. 52.6 Transfer Qualifications: One year of permanent or contingent-permanent as a Grade 21 or higher determined to be administrative by Civil Service. 70.1 Transfer Qualifications: One year of permanent or contingent-permanent as a Grade 21 or higher determined to be similar by Civil Service.
